REVIEW: Skinlite Exfoliating Foot Mask

WARNING: This post contains unpleasant photo

Hello everyone.

I posted about a foot mask previously that I actually thought it was exfoliating mask but I was wrong. It was a hydrating foot mask that gives hydration to tired feet. Though it did good, it wasn't the right item and purpose I was looking for. I want to purchase an exfoliating foot mask so I read several reviews regarding foot masks and how it works. I ran through many reviews on Baby Foot Mask that reviewers have been raving about for ages. I was so keen to try it so I went to my favorite beauty shop, Sasa in One Utama, Damansara about 12 days ago. I was looking for a foot mask that will help me remove my thick callous and improve the appearance of my feet, though I use my favorite sneakers all the time. I asked the lady promoter whether they have the Baby Foot Mask but she said it is out of stock. They have two Sasa stores in One Utama and both stores have none of that Baby Foot Mask. I was a bit disappointed but happy on the same time because that foot mask costs a fortune. It is wayyyy beyond my budget. That lady promoter suggested me as a first timer to use this instead, Skinlite Exfoliating Foot Mask. This one is such a baby! It is super cheap, which is RM9.90 of approximately 3 USD for one pair (one treatment). I even get a discount of 20% so turned out it costs me only RM7.92 of approximately 2 USD. Here are the photos taken before usage.

Claims and ingredients

The foot mask (picture shown only one piece, watches excluded LOL)

Product

Today I am super duper lazy and I want to keep this review short and simple so the claims and ingredients can be read on the pictures posted. The plastic socks-looking mask is very huge but fits well (length aspect) on my size 9 feet (size 40 - 42). It is very wide so don't worry if you have wide feet. The plastic doesn't seem to be in high quality but well, why does it matter since I am going to dispose it after usage. It is still good enough that it doesn't seem like you just put on your supermarket plastic bag on as a mask. LOL. The mask is actually sealed on the opening (the opening is where I put my watches on) so I need to cut the opening before usage. After cutting, you will get the idea of socks-like opening of the mask. It is sealed because the essence is inside the mask, you can even see the gooey glue-like consistency colorless essence in it (which is quite a lot) but through the picture it is not obvious as there is also a cotton like layer inside the plastic (refer picture above) that acts as a sheet mask to evenly spread the essence to top of your feet. The scent is super stinky! It smells like rotten apple or something. I really hate the smell but since it is used on my feet so the smell doesn't bother me.

The downturn of this mask is that they do not supply any tape to seal the openings upon usage. Believe me, I tried not to cut the whole opening so that the opening will be much tighter to prevent the essence from overflowing but it does not help. I can't even fit my feet in if I cut it too small. I just need to cut the whole opening and only then I can put on the mask. Too bad. What I do suggest is that, if you are planning to purchase this mask, make sure you have a tape at home to seal the openings of the masks. Putting on old socks on top of the mask won't help either. What I did was, after putting it on, I put on my old (slightly tight) socks so that the mask hugs my feet nicely. Is hugs a suitable word? LOL. I want to sit on my bed but I can't because I didn't seal the opening (couldn't find tape anywhere). At one point, my leg hurts due to stay stationary too long so I sat on my bed with my legs stretched and I thought it was okay. Suddenly, I felt like something cold on my ankle and I found out that the essence from my right foot flowed out from the mask. And the stinky essence spilled on my blanket. Luckily the smell disappeared after it dried up but I was worried that the essence in the mask lessen thus reducing the effectiveness on my right foot.

How I use it

I used the mask at night before sleeping because that's when I don't move around a lot. Before usage, I soaked my feet in water that I have put in a bit of body wash (I am too lazy to warm up the water) for about 30 minutes. After patting it dry, I put on the mask, and then old socks on and let it sit for 90 minutes for the essence to absorb into my thick skin. Of course, from my opinion, the ingredients contain so many harsh chemicals but because I only use it on my feet, I gave it a go. During usage, I felt cold tingly sensation here and there but it is painless. After removal, my feet felt so dry and it wrinkles a bit like the wrinkles on fingers when they are soaked in water too long. I need to rinse it and then I went to sleep.

Effects

The exfoliation or I can call it peeling will start after day 4 so I waited patiently. On day 4, my feet started to look like it is going to peel. They are getting slightly darker in color (light grey-ish color) so I assumed it is the dead cells to be removed. They said that peeling will happen on day 4 but my peeling started on day 5. On day 5, I didn't bother about my feet anymore because I kinda forgot about the mask thing. I went to bath and I felt like I was stepping on a small piece of paper or something and I found out that my heels are peeling! I was shocked and happy on the same time as both of my feet are peeling well (regardless the spilled essence). It kept on peeling more during day 6 to day 8 on the soles and I tell you, it is messy! I didn't took the effort to wear socks all the time but I do have bad habit of peeling the skin by force. LOL. So here is the photo of the peeled skin. I am sorry but I will not provide the picture of my feet as I am too shy like that. :P

Peeled skin on day 6

During day 9 to current (day 11), it is still peeling on the top of my feet and my toes never looked this beautiful. The hyperpigmentations on my toes are visibly lessen and it lighten up old scars too. If you refer the photos I posted on claims, you can see the peeling process on the small pictures on it and that is exactly what my feet went through. If you are brave enough to google images on feet exfoliation, yes my feet peeled that way but if you did not peeled it by force, you might get the extra large skin flake reviewers raved about. Truth is, I never went pedicure before because I don't like people touching my feet and I am not into beautifying my feet anyways as I often used closed sneakers. The fact that my soles and my toes felt soooooo smooth makes me feel so happy! The color of my soles and toes are so pink that my toes look so cute when I wiggle it. LOL. I can say it does work! And I am happy I bought something that does wonder with a very cheap price. I still want to try the Baby Foot Mask but I will purchase it in a month or two because I don't want it to be useless as I already undergone good peeling with this one. FYI, Baby Foot Mask costs six times more than this mask.

My ratings:

Effectiveness: ★★★★★ (it does what it is supposed to do!)

Packaging: ★★★☆☆ (I gave it a 3 because its green! but I wish the mask comes with a tape for sealing purpose)

Price: ★★★★★ (it is the cheapest exfoliating foot mask I have ever encountered and it works!)

Long term effect:  ★★★★★ (my foot is still beautiful, soft and pinkish and it looks so clean although my class has already started and I need to walk a lot again)

Overall, I do highly recommend this foot mask if you are new to this type of foot mask. It really works but bear in mind that soaking your feet before usage is really crucial. Aside from that, do not walk around with it as it is very slippery. It is not slippery on the outside but its on the inside, where you can slip with the existence of essence in it. Be careful and enjoy your new beautiful feet that you always dream of! I hope this review helps!

Regards

  1. Nice review! I just started using it and waiting for it to peel. Thanks for the review as I was skeptical about it for being at so affordable price!
