REVIEW: Sexylook Hello Kitty Ultra Moisturizing Pink Sakura Duo Lifting Mask (3D Mask)

Hello everyone.

I was superbly busy since my semester started and I can't find any suitable time to update my blog. Assignments, projects, presentations, its just exhausting. Anyhow, I did mention previously on how I am addicted to masks. I bought several masks and with the fact that I experienced random masks that I know how certain masks will feel and what is best for my skin - which is combination to oily skin with enlarged pores. Up to this point, I can simplify this:

  1. Masks for tightening pores do have tingly/burning sensation on the first few minutes upon application
  2. Masks for brightening cannot be used longer than the duration of application suggested as it may cause break outs especially to skin like mine
  3. Masks for hydration/tightening pores are suggested to be chilled before usage to maximize its efficacy
  4. I haven't use masks like snail masks, rejuvenating masks or cooling/soothing masks to judge further

During my purchase on an online beauty shop, I actually spent more than RM150 on beauty products. I kept telling myself this is the last time I spend my money for beauty products but to no success. Upon retrieval of the products I purchased, I actually get a free mask which is Sexylook Hello Kitty Ultra Moisturizing Pink Sakura Duo Lifting Mask. It is basically a sheet masks but innovated I must say. A 3D mask has become the new trend for sheet masks but I am not a fan of 3D masks as it is very complicated to use and I don't see how a 3D mask will actually lift my chubby cheeks upon removal. So this Hello Kitty mask is actually a 3D mask, with ear holes and neck lifting extras. Here are the photos.

Claims and ingredients (in Taiwan I guess?)

Ingredients up close

Since I only get one piece of it so I tried it as a closing on my usual mask day routine. I was skeptical a bit as I don't understand a word except for the ingredients. I don't know what I need to expect and how to even use it. The pictures of hello kitty using the mask on the back of the packaging is rather clear showing directions of use so I followed exactly like it. I actually never heard of Sexylook before and getting a free mask is of course causing me to be judgmental. Why do they gave it for free if its good and sellable? Okay enough with the questions. Back to the review.

Product

The mask is actually folded inside. There is no plastic layer between the fold to ease unfolding but there's nothing to worry about as the mask is quite thick and super hard to tear. Believe me I tried. The scent is pretty decent and soothing but I can't really remember the exact scent of it. But it smells flowery and not overpowering. To those who don't prefer scented masks, I think you should avoid this mask as it already stated in the ingredients that it contains perfume. Here is how the mask looks like.

After usage

As you can see, the mask has those extras on it. The ear holes are those on the sides of the face mask and the holes on both sides of the neck mask. 3D doesn't mean that the mask has this 3D underwater pictures on it etc. LOL. Basically it has few angles or so-called "dimensions" to cover other angles on the face area - aka only neck. I actually put this in my fridge before usage to chill it up. When I remove the mask from the packaging, I didn't see any essence left in the sachet. I assume that all essence has been absorbed by the thick mask. I used beauty diary mask before and this mask is thicker. The texture of the mask is cottony like but the ones with credibility of hard to tear.

How I use it

During application, when the essence hit my skin, it burns! Like crazy. I immediately remove the mask after few seconds as I can't tolerate with the pain. I actually almost threw it away as I thought it was a fake mask and that it is not good at all. Right when I almost release the mask into the dustbin, I told myself, "give it a try". So I changed my mind and re-apply it. It burns still but I understand that tightening masks do give burning sensation (although this one burns hard). I sat infront of a fan to reduce the burning feeling and after a few minutes the burning feeling disappeared.

I admit, I do have huge head. I don't know why but I am guessing that my brain is huge. LOL. So the downturn about this mask is, I can't make the ear holes reach my ears! I was afraid I might tear the mask so I didn't try so hard to put the ear holes on my ear. The eye holes are too closely together that it covers both sides of my eyes to almost half. The nose hole is too small for my nose that the masks does not sits well on my skin (it looks like my nose is under a tent). I hate how the mask sits on my skin. I tried tearing the eye holes, nose holes and mouth holes so that it can be larger but nothing happened. No tear, not even the slightest damage. As I am too lazy to use scissors, I decided to deal with it. The neck mask - which of course with too far away ear holes - I simply let it sit on my neck and lie down so that it is not hanging. Everything is just too small for my facial figures so I get frustrated during application. Due to the major disappointment, I decided to use it exactly 30 minutes. I was afraid I might get side effects or something so I just can't wait to remove it.

Effects

Upon removal, the amazing thing is that the mask is no longer too wet (not like any other sheet masks which you can still squeeze it to get the excess essence after usage) which I find that the essence almost fully absorbed into the skin. I tried squeezing the excess essence out but only teeny tiny bit of essence came out. I thought, "nahh, this is bad as maybe the essence evaporated pretty well." So I went to sleep without rinsing the essence on my skin.

Guess what? My skin felt super soft the next morning that I can't stop touching my skin. I really love how it makes my skin feels. It looks so plump and youthful. My pores look so much less visible and my skin has this natural shine I love most. The kind of shine that says "no dullness and dead skin cells just pure clean skin". There is no significant lifting effects but moisturizing and smoothing is a big YES. I am very glad I did not threw it away. Although from my opinion, if I could use the mask the way it should be used, I might see better lifting effects. I just wish that the mask comes in sizes and better holes so to fit various head sizes and facial figures. Every sachet comes with only one mask and I am sorry I can't provide the price of the the mask as I don't purchase it and I couldn't find the price of the mask elsewhere. I think it is no longer in market? I don't know.

My ratings:

Effectiveness: ★★★★☆ (if it does not burns much I will give it a 5)

Packaging: ★☆☆☆☆ (I don't fond hello kitty that much and I hate the cuts of the mask)

Price: I can't comment on this but often sheet masks cost around RM2 to RM10 (approximately 1 USD to 3 USD) each.

Long term effect: ★★★★☆ (the effects stay for days until my next mask day which is 3-6 days)

Overall, if you could get the supply for this, I do highly recommend this mask especially to those with small face. LOL. I did not repurchase as I could not find it anywhere and I don't think I will repurchase if I found it so because of the cutting of the masks. I do prefer doing house chores without worrying about the position of the mask. And yes, I am the type of person who don't sit and relax during mask application. I do a lot of things at once. I hope this review helps!

Regards
