Hello everyone.
As I mentioned from my previous post I'll be reviewing on Yves Rocher Sebo Specific other products that I used to combat my teenage combination to oily yet super acne-prone skin. Basically after using my Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser from the same line, I'll dab the Mattifying Toner, continued with the Zero Blemish Pore Refining Care (which in this case I actually used it as my moisturizer). I'll be reviewing two products on this post and I'll do my best to keep it short and simple. Aside from that, yes I have no choice but to "steal" these pictures from Yves Rocher official website because I am no longer using this line due to my new interest on fighting pigmentation and fine lines.
Sebo Specific Mattifying Toner |
What they claimed for their Mattifying Toner:
"Ideal as a complement to purifying cleanser: Mattifying Toner completes cleansing and make-up removal for oily and combination skin.
Combined with the action of the Botanical Flavonoids Complex, this mild solution:
- eliminates residual impurities
- purifies and matifies the skin texture.
Result: the skin is effectively purified, cleansed and mattified.
The Plus: can be used both as a complement to the Cleanser (in the evening, for thorough make-up removal) and alone, in the morning for instance."
Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Oleth-20, Parfum, Allantoin, Salicilyc Acid, Hexyl Cinnamal, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxyde, Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract. Made in E.C.
This toner is like a normal toner I often use. It is water like consistency and color and yes, it has alcohol in it. It is even smells like alcohol. LOL. The downturn about this product is that my skin is slightly sensitive and I can't barely handle the sting feeling on my skin everytime I dab this on my skin. It hurts (but still tolerable) and it dries up my skin especially near the nose area and the mouth area. It also caused flaky skin at times. I usually pour a few drops (yes POUR since the bottle comes with a screw lid and it will be wide open just like their Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser) on a facial cotton and I dab it on my skin. It does help in removing excess dirt on my skin since my cotton will turn slightly brownish and it helps to prepare my skin for moisturizer and make up. When I feel like my skin does not need any extra prep, I will rather skip the toner. I bought this in Malaysia and the price is the same with its cleanser of RM35 - which is approximately 10 USD for 150ml.
My rating:
Effectiveness: ★★★☆☆ (since it caused me pain at times)
Bottle: ★☆☆☆☆ (its a white colored opaque bottle and the lid is not suitable for a toner as it can spill easily)
Price: ★☆☆☆☆ (it is rather expensive compared to other toner yet it does not occur to be suitable for sensitive skin)
Long term effect: ★★☆☆☆ (short term or long term, it caused me flaky skin at times)
Overall, I do not recommend this toner for those who has sensitive skin like mine. I think I can get a better toner with a better price. But for those who can tolerate well with alcohol, it is quite a good toner to balance out your sebum and to prepare your skin for moisturizer and make up.
Sebo Specific Zero Blemish Pore Refining Care |
What they claimed for their Zero Blemish Pore Refining Care:
"To tighten, open pores and conceal minor imperfections, entrust your skin to Zero Blemish Pore Refining Care. Your skin is smooth, flawless, your complexion is matt and beautiful. Use morning or night.
The Plus : Its non-oily, ultra-light texture leaves a velvety matt finish on the skin.

This acts as a moisturizer in my regime. I am the type of person who don't prefer if my skincare regime has more than 3 steps. I'm always late in the morning and to dab on thousands of things on my skin is just not suitable for me. LOL. This moisturizer smells like yogurt but I kinda like the smell though. It does not overpowering and the scent disappeared immediately after it absorbed into my skin. To add on, this moisturizer is yogurt like consistency (or lotion) and its pastel green in color yet it managed to absorb rather quickly. I loovvveee this moisturizer because it helps in giving a matt complexion for few hours when I put make up on. One time, I used heavy foundation on after applying this moisturizer and my skin glows. It does not super mattifying it but it makes my skin naturally shiny - not the excessive sebum kind of shine. Later by the evening I need to wash my face too because excess sebum started to appear if I use make up. It is ultra-light texture as it claims and I don't feel heavy after applying it although I dabbed on quite a lot at times. My skin feels smooth and supple. The downturn is that, I've been using this religiously but my pores seem to prefer to stay enlarged. LOL. It costs me RM50-RM60 which is approximately 20 USD for 50ml.
My rating:
Effectiveness: ★★★★☆ (I was hoping that it helps to give me matt finish longer when I put my make up on and my pores to get less visible)
Bottle: ★★★★☆ (it is a screw lid top and it is not really hygenic but I'm quite fine with it)
Price: ★★★★☆ (it is rather expensive for a small bottle but since it does what it claims I'm giving it a 4)
Long term effect: ★★★★☆ (I never had enough of it)
Overall, I do recommend this to those with combination to oily skin. Its good with make up on and it gives the glow that I love. But don't expect it to give forever matt skin as I will eventually need to wash and reapply it on my skin after long hours. Plus, it does not make my pores look less visible. Hope this review helps!
Regards
