REVIEW: Yves Rocher Gestes D'Institut Botanical Matt Skin Paste

Hello everyone.

From all my previous posts I've been raving about Yves Rocher skincare line for combination to oily skin. Today I would like to review on their other product which is Yves Rocher Gestes D'Institut Botanical Matt Skin Paste and I'll call it mask for short. I've checked their website and they actually changed its name to Yves Rocher SOS Shine Mask Botanical Mattifying Mask. This tube lasts forever thus the reason why I'm still using the old packaging with the old name. And tadaa! I'm still using it after few years to keep my sebum control on top. Here's my own mask.

Yves Rocher Gestes D'Institut Botanical Matt Skin Paste

What it claims and its ingredients

What they claimed on their website:

"Salon-quality facials!

Are you stressed? Do you feel your skin is out of control?
Cleansing Scrub-mask offers you the incredible anti-shine and purifying qualities of scutelleria extract.
During an intense matte skin session, you can pamper your face.
Apply and after 5 minutes your skin is freed of its impurities. It is perfectly clear, purified. You feel beautiful… for a long time.

Primary advantage: If you are in a hurry, use this paste as a scrub to get rid of impurities. Then rinse with clear water.

Tested under dermatological supervision."

Ingredients: Aqua, Kaolin, Alcohol Denat., Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Zea Mays, Starch, Urea, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Polyethylene, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceteth-20, Cellulose Gum, Salicylic Acid, Methylparaben, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Parfum, Pyridoxine HCL, Allantoin, Ethylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Hydroxide, Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Tetrasodium Edta, Hexyl Cinnamal, CI 42090, CI 19140

From the ingredients, what I can conclude is that, they used so many varieties of paraben. No wonder it lasts so long. I love this mask because it absorbs my excess sebum so well that when it dries on my skin, I can see small dots all around the mask on my skin - which indicates the location of my pores. I use this mask once a week. Its like a mud mask but the consistency is slightly runny just like the picture I provided. It is also pastel green in color. Actually this mask is a 2-in-1 mask, it can be a scrub and it can also be a mask. I often use this as a mask since my skin is rather sensitive to tolerate with scrubs. When I feel that my skin started to excessively produce sebum, I'll dab a thick layer of this mask and wait for like 30 minutes or until I can see the small dots all around my face on the mask. After it dries, I will then use a soft sponge to rinse it and I will use a mild facial cleanser afterwards. Why do I wash my skin after the mask is, I found out that if I don't, and when I used toner I'll see greenish color on the cotton and I know that the mask is not rinsed well enough.

The downturn about this mask is that it has alcohol, which is rather strong for me. It smells like alcohol a bit too. When my skin started to get flaky and dry on the mouth and nose area, I rather skip this mask for the week. The first time I dabbed this mask when my skin flakes, it burns! And the burning sensation is so painful that I rinsed the mask immediately. So I have to be careful to only use this mask when I really need it. It costs me RM54 which is approximately 20 USD for 75ml.

My ratings:

Effectiveness: ★★★☆☆ (since it burns sometimes and I can only use this mask when I really need it)

Bottle: ★★★★★ (nothing special nor weaknesses)

Price: ★★★★☆ (since it does what it claims but can't often use it)

Long term effect: ★★★★★ (never had enough of this)

Overall, I do recommend this to those with combination to oily skin but take note for sensitive skin. Its really good at absorbing excess sebum and impurities but it also burns when the skin flakes or rather dry. I hope you enjoy this review.

Regards
