REVIEW: Tokyo Love Soap Pure Girls

Hello everyone!

I am so happy that I was chosen to be part of Nattacosme's blogging event for Tokyo Love Soap Pure Girls! I was dying to try this out but couldn't get my hand on it as it is super fast selling and when it is in stock, my pocket was filled with spider webs (if you know what I mean LOL). Tokyo Love Soap is so-called miracle soap for its fast whitening effects - not to mention all-natural. Some said that they can even see the result in just one wash (this is exaggeration. LOL). Tokyo Love Soap brand has few other variants and believe me, I tried Original and Premium variant previously and I must say, I LOVE PURE GIRLS VARIANT! No no, I am not saying this because I was sponsored plus I promised I'll provide honest review. For your information, I tried my best to actually prove that this soap doesn't work (skeptic me!) but I couldn't. This soap actually costs RM85 of approximately 27 USD for 80g. Since it is written in Japanese – which most of us can’t read of course, I took the claims from its Tokyo Love Soap’s official website:

The soap is wrapped within a slightly transparent white plastic wrapper and comes with a quality box which is pink and white in color. All statements are written in Japanese and only some were written in “readable” words. LOL. Lovely to its name, the rosy scent is not overpowering but I can assure you that you can’t stop sniffing it once you took the soap out from the plastic wrapper. It’s so soothing yet not overpowering which I love! The soap is creamy white in color with TLS prints on it and it lathers quite well too – but not as sudsy as it is soap based and no SLS to develop massive bubbles. The soap is bigger than my expectation - approximately the size of a medal but Premium and Original variant is bigger as both are 100g. Here are the photos of the soap.

How I use it

I actually cut this soap into 4 quarters to save up and use it longer than it is supposed to be – aside from maintaining its freshness. Soaps that are left too long in the bathroom will lose its freshness (scent and effectiveness) because of the bathroom’s high humidity and heat. Besides that, this soap is all-natural and natural soaps tend to melt easier than normal commercialized soaps so please make sure you take a good care of it. If you plan to use my method, please cut the soap using large sharp knife to minimize the soap's breakage as the soap is rather hard and breaks easily - and make it quick! I used this soap mainly on my body concentrating on hyperpigmented areas such as underarms, inner thighs, elbows and knees.

Started off by rinsing my body with water, I then lathers it on skin and leave it on for 3 minutes or so (well, I don't actually have timer in my bathroom) thus I let it sit while I brush my teeth and cleanse my face. Rinse it off afterwards. I do suggest that you don't leave it for too long because it is still a soap and leaving it too long may eliminates skin's barrier (or moisture). On lazy days, I used the soap throughout my body in the morning and on concentrated areas only before bed. I started using it on 16th of May, 2014 and a quarter lasts me for approximately 10 days – usage of twice a day. Up to this date (11th of June, 2014), I have just finished using 2 quarters of the soap. Here is the photo of the soap after cutting it into 4 quarters (took the picture after using a quarter).

Effects

The effects are amazing! I didn’t expect it to work as I didn’t get miraculous results using other variant of this brand. I think it depends on individual’s skin as the other variant may be more effective towards them. First and foremost, I’m sure that you can’t wait to know whether the whitening effect is as magic as it stated, and no, it’s not magical and miraculous. I still have to use it for 2 weeks or so to see significant results. But! The claims are true to its words! I took the photos of my hand before and after usage – managed myself best to take the picture with the same angle and lighting but due to the fact that my camera is in low quality, I have to adjust the sharpness of the pictures – no further colors changed. Promise! Tadaa!

Before / After

I was so tanned before and the results afterwards are glowing, whitened skin. I love it! My brothers even said that my skin looks more whitened (with a healthy glow) than before and they even want the soap for themselves. No can do, dude! HAHA. I didn’t realize it at first as like I mentioned before, I was skeptical. Before the first usage, I actually just got my waxing routine done and I realized that my hair grows so much slower – and lesser. My next waxing routine was actually last week but I have to postpone it to this week as my hair’s length is still not suitable for waxing. I was amazed by this.

Andddd. Yes! It brightens up my underarm quite significantly. I must say that my underarm has few dark patches that I am concentrating on reducing its visibility but this soap helps a lot – though the patches are still there but at least it is less visible now. On softness aspects, I don't get to judge this better as I do have soft skin (genetically) to start with. Out of my consent, I actually developed slight allergies to flowery scent that I can’t use this soap on my face without sneezing like a hundred times. Sigh. I wish I could use it on my face. So my body turns out brighter than my face and I was like -____________-

The downturn about this soap is that the scent doesn’t stay long on my body. It lasts me for like an hour I think. I don’t really mind about this matter as I do have my own perfume. On the other hand, I do suggest that your toilet is free from mosquitoes. LOL. This is due to the fact that I often get mosquito bites on my skin while waiting for my 3 minutes. Weird but true, I read somewhere that natural soap tends to attract insects so to the result of mosquito bites. This soap is supposed to give micro peeling on skin but I didn’t see that on my skin. I think my skin is super tanned and thick that it seems to be reluctant to peel – which I do prefer as I don’t want to look like a flaky zombie. If you encounter this micro peeling, don’t worry as it will dissipate within few days and the flakes are not that visible. 

My ratings:

Effectiveness: ★★★★★ (no complaints!)

Packaging: ★★★☆☆ (cute but I wish they sell in liquid form too as it'll be easier for travel purposes)

Price: ★★★★☆ (though it seems so worth it, it is still rather expensive from my opinion as a student)

Long term effect: ★★★★★ (still brightened!)

Overall, I do highly recommend this soap for those who expects major results within short period of time - with the fact that it is natural-based soap. I haven't use this on my face and I will do so when my current facial wash is done. But do take note that all skin has different condition and results may vary between individuals.

Nattacosme has a very good customer service and I had never been this satisfied before. They even send our parcel on the weekends if possible (except the first Saturday of the month as most courier services are closed). Payments can be made through online payments or even bank transfers although I do prefer online payment as it is hassle-free! All products are cheaper than most drugstores in the market and they have a lot of ranges of beauty products to choose from! During seasonal periods, we even get freebies on our purchases!
