Product and how I use it
First and foremost, I have never owned any set of make up brushes. The only brush I have ever bought separately is my blush brush – this excludes brushes and sponges that came within make up palettes I’ve bought. So to this extent, honestly, my life felt a little complete to own these brushes! Haha. And of course, my everyday makeup look is going natural – nude and flawless look. In this post, I will be much focus on learning the brushes itself and application steps. Here are the brushes and its uses:
1. Foundation Brush

Foundation brush is used for the application of liquid foundation. In liquid foundation, there are oil and water contents, hence the usage of synthetic brush as their bristle. Synthetic brush does not absorb water and oil, making it easier to spread liquid foundation throughout our skin – whilst enhancing the true benefit of liquid foundation, providing a flawless look without looking caky. Furthermore, the brush is very comfortable to use and does not irritate my skin. I apply my BB cream with this brush as well and it works wonders! No mess of using fingers, better application and hygienic!
2. Powder Brush

Powder brush is used after the application of foundation. Just dab this chubby brush in any of your setting powder – I am using a colorless loose powder to avoid from excessive sebum secretion but you can use any powder that suits your preference, be it compact powder or mineral powder etc. – remove excessive powder on the brush and lightly brush through your skin. I used to apply my loose powder using facial sponge, but I find myself feeling caky and it feels like I just dabbed an inch of powder on my skin! With the usage of this brush, my loose powder is spread nicely, thin yet improved my foundation’s staying power.
3. Fan brush

Fan brush is used to remove excessive powdered form make up on your skin. It is shaped as such to meet small or cornered areas on our skin. Often, during the application of eye shadow, loose powder or blusher, I find that there is excessive powder on my skin. I can’t remove it with my hands as I will accidentally spread it on my skin. You don’t want any dark glittery eyeshadow on your cheeks don’t you? With the trouble to remove it with makeup remover and later reapply foundation on the spot and it goes on and on. Upon the application of this brush, I can easily remove excessive makeup with lesser accidents. And yes, lesser time to get ready!
4. Eyeshadow Brush (Small)

Within this set, there are two types of eyeshadow brush provided, small and large. The first one is small eyeshadow brush, which suits the first application of eyeshadow on my lids. It captures so much eyeshadow that it eases the application of my eyeshadow without the hassle of reapplication to meet my desired color strength. The trick is to dab the flat surface of the brush on the eyeshadow and apply it on the lid flat as well – dabbing motion. Since eyelids are very soft and prone to irritation, it is crucial to use soft brushes for eyeshadow application. This brush is so soft it feels heavenly during application!
5. Eyeshadow Brush (Large)

Due to its size, this brush is best to use for blending purposes or to dab on eyeshadow on the crease of my eyelids. It is soft and blending turns out easier using this brush! We often dab on darker shaded eyeshadow on our crease to create the illusion of double eyelid and depth. I always have problem blending my eyeshadow on my crease and will end up having rigid edges of eyeshadow on my crease. Forgive me as I am very bad at describing shapes. Haha. Anyway, this brush is a must to make eyeshadows look feathery and blend in better.
6. Eyebrow & Liner Brush

This brush is angled to meet both corners of eyebrow and eyes itself. It is used to apply eyebrow shadow or even a liquid or gel eyeliner due to its bristle. The bristle is slightly harder than usual eyeshadow brushes to create perfect lines without too much feathery effect. I love using this brush with my gel eyeliner as it eases the application of eyeliner without smudging my eyeshadow. For the application of eyebrow shadow, this brush can be used to draw lines on outer corners of the eyebrow and later fill the eyebrow within the lines with eyebrow shadow to create that neat eyebrow effect. Plus, it traps more liquid or gel to give a darker, pigmented liners and eyebrow shadow.
7. Modifying Pen

At first, I am not exactly sure the function of this brush. After thorough research, I found out that this brush (or pen) acts as a modifying pen, for modifying purposes. Haha. The pen is made up of spongy ends that is not soft nor hard. Imagine the tip of a whiteboard marker, only that this pen is softer. There are a lot of uses of this brush, but mainly for the purpose to apply eyeshadow – perhaps on the smaller corner of the eyes. I used this to apply gold or light shimmering eyeshadow on the inner corner of my eyes as this brush improves the accuracy of my application without the tendency of the eyeshadow to enter my eyes. It can be used to smudge eyeliners as well. Some people use this to apply concealer as it improves accuracy due to its pointy tip.
8. Eyebrow Comb and Eyelash Separator

This brush has two functions; eyebrow comb and eyelash separator. From the perspective of eyebrow comb, I use this after the application of my eyebrow shadow. It helps me to tidy up my eyebrow while blending in my eyebrow shadow to make it look more natural. You can later apply eyebrow mascara if you have any. From the perspective of eyelash separator, I use this before applying mascara to remove dust and to separate my eyelashes. It enhances my mascara application as it improves yielding on each strand while avoiding clumps – resulting thicker fuller lashes!
9. Blush Brush

This brush is made up of goat’s hair, which improves the ability to hold in blush powder yet soft enough for the skin. It is very comfortable to use and the angled brush enhances the application of blush powder on my cheekbones. It can also be used to apply highlighter or bronzer due to its holding power whilst providing an airy finish. One of the must have brush is this brush as I find it crucial to own a good blush brush! I used to have two blush brushes; one that are small, soft but too flat and another one that is large and flat with harder bristle. Both brushes were provided within my blush powder palettes. They are inconvenient to use as both are pretty bad in spreading my blush powder making it look unnatural (clown looking).
10. Lip Brush

This lip brush is used to apply lipsticks or any lip colouring. It is enclosed within a pointy lid to maintain the shape of the brush. Lip brushes are supposed to be pointy as such to ease the application of lip coloring on the most corner of our lips – which cannot be done through normal lipstick application. The hardness of the bristle is perfect enough to improve the precision of lip coloring application hence preventing smudgy lips while improving lip coloring staying power!
