Its been awhile since I last post any reviews. Well the fact that I can't really remember what I used previously and sometimes there are certain products that I don't feel the necessity to review on it. I've mentioned about my favorite serum several times on my previous posts related to haircare products. And here I am gladly to say that this is my forever favorite serum, Kao Liese Hair Cocktail Moisturizing Hair Serum. They actually have two versions, the normal ones (bottle peach in color) and the light ones (bottle green in color). I actually on my second bottle of this. It costs me RM27 of approximately 8 USD for 120ml. I haven't purchase a new bottle since I still own it (the light version) but I found out that the price of this bottle increased to RM32 of approximately 10 USD. This serum is available in most pharmacies here in Malaysia especially Guardian. My first bottle was the normal version. I bought the light version because I didn't know the difference between both. I can't read japanese and they didn't state the difference in the names. But I still love both of them because it gave me similar results.
I often use this when I think my hair is pretty dry than usual. I have long straight medium fine hair which is slightly dry. I don't have dandruff problems (unless if I used unsuitable shampoo) and I used to wash everyday. Yup, used to. I am currently going low 'poo (a method for beginners to go no 'poo which means shampoo-free). Okay I am not going to talk about low 'poo today so lets move on to the serum's review. I only own the light version bottle so here are the photos of both versions.

As you can see from both bottle the difference in the bottle color, one peach in color and the other one is greenish color. I love both! I seriously cannot differentiate between both because I never expect it was two different versions. At first when I still own the normal version, I was curious what is the green bottle for. I read the claims and ingredients and they are almost the same! So I decided to purchase the green bottle (because I really love green) after I finished the first bottle. Luckily it is still as good. Here are the claims I took from Kao's website:

This light serum is filled with peach leaf extract and prune essence which glides on smoothly and evenly on each strand of hair. Lightly scented with refreshing tropical fruity scent. Actually, as you can see there are two layers for each bottle. The top layer is the anti-frizz oil while the bottom layer is the nourishing water. The anti-frizz oil is to coat each strand of hair to smoothen it and prevents loss of moisture while the nourishing water is to penetrates deep into each strand of hair to nourish and to repair (statements taken here). The texture, scent and color of the serum itself are just the same between both versions. Also the results. And the price. LOL. The only difference is the color of the bottle. Before usage, I need to shake the bottle to mix up both layers. Here are the photos for the serum after mixed up and the texture.

Texture and how much I use |
The bottle is a normal transparent plastic bottle with a cap on top. The opening is pretty small, very suitable for the runny consistency of the serum to avoid overflowing. The consistency is yogurt drink like (not the actual thick yogurt) and it smells heavenlyyyyy. I love the scent so much. I can say it smells like peach and I love fruity scent for my haircare products. Even my siblings love the scent when I put it on my hair. The color after both layers mixed up is pastel yellow.
How I use it
I often use this after my hair dried up because only then I know whether I really need the serum or not. I don't treat this serum as my daily routine because I don't prefer too much silicone on my hair and I hate build ups. Of course this serum does not cause any build ups and it glides smoothly even when my hair is dry. Currently my new routine due to the low 'poo is that, during my shampoo day I will use this on the ends of my hair when my hair is still damp.
Effects
The smoothness actually stays until my next shampoo day. It prevents tangles and split ends too! I used several hair serums and I never get as best results as this serum. It does not cause my hair turns oily (with the fact that I do have slightly dry hair) and it does not cause dandruff for a plus. I do have rather sensitive skin especially to silicone and I don't get any breakouts on my jawline (I don't tie my hair often). Though the downturn is that it does contains a lot of silicone. Since I am going to go no 'poo soon so I have to ditch any products that contain harsh chemicals and go organic. I will keep using this until I actually finish the whole bottle (because I love it too much). I will be missing this serum badly and I hope there are other hair serum that is organic while giving pretty similar results. A bottle lasts me for 6 months - seldom use it, average of 3 times a week. Refer to the texture and how much I use picture, to cover my long hair I will use 2 times the amount from the picture.

My ratings:
Effectiveness: ★★★★★ (I know the product contains a lot of harsh chemicals but I still love it and it does wonder!)
Bottle: ★★★☆☆ (bottle is pretty average, nothing catchy)
Price: ★★★★☆ (at first I took sometime to decide whether to buy this or not because it is rather expensive but with the results, its worth every penny - though it is expensive for me as a student)
Long term effect: ★★★★☆ (it contains harsh chemicals so it is not preferable to often use this in long run. During my low 'poo, I will water wash my hair between shampoo day and even after water wash my hair is still very smooth. I did use this for more than a year and it still does wonder)
Overall, if you are having pretty dry hair I really recommend this serum. It works wonder. I don't have oily hair to judge better. But here's a quick tid bits, at first I thought I have oily hair because my hair turns super oily and weighed down the day after I shampoo my hair. After I changed to organic shampoo I found out that I have dry hair. I have problem determining my hair types but by using organic shampoo (and deep cleansing is important before changing to organic shampoo to remove build ups from normal shampoo) I just knew I have dry hair. Without the silicone in my hair products my hair turns dry especially on the ends. And that my friend, is my actual hair type. I suggest if you want to determine your hair type, try silicone-free sulfate-free paraben-free and petroleum-derived-ingredients-free in your hair products. And do avoid any silicone contained products for a week while using the harsh chemicals free products. But I think when you go organic, you will never turn back. Good luck! I hope this review helps!
